March Meeting:
Dive Club History
For the March Club Meeting our President Jay Weber will look back on the history of the Dive Club. His recap will specifically highlight the significant contributions of Richard Merritt. Mr. Merritt, who recently passed away, was one of the founders of the Dive Club.
His legacy extends beyond the Dive Club as he was one of the developers of the Southwest Council Instructor Program (SCIP), one of the earliest scuba certification agencies in the U.S. Mr. Merritt was also an instructor in our club for many years.
In addition (he has a long list of club contributions) he was an ace machinist for Texas Instruments and he used those skills to help design and build the “Columbia” compressor which the club used for many years.
Plan now to attend this retrospective meeting on the club’s history while highlighting the impact that Richard Merritt made on our club.
