Equipment Room
Texins Dive Club maintains a full service equipment room for the convenience of it's members. The room is located at the Texins Activity Center, on the east side of the pool. Entrance can be gained from the pool area or, especially if you are renting or returning gear, the small parking lot beside the Activity Center next to TI Boulevard Road. During the dive season the room is open each Wednesday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for rental and gear return and other services. The room closes during the off season. The room is always available by appointment; contact the Equipment Room
or, if unavailable, the Second
.
Equipment available for rental are regulators, BC's, tanks, weight belts and weight. Equipment cannot be reserved. It can be rented for up to two weeks. During the dive season, club training has priority over equipment rental. During the open water check-out, equipment, especially BC's, can be in short supply. It's best to plan ahead for your diving needs if you will be attending a dive when an open water check-out is scheduled. Borrowing from a friend or possibly having to rent from a shop are some alternatives. Usually, there are plenty of regulators available. Weights and weight belts are no problem. Tanks can be in short supply during the open water depending on how many students are in the class. Check with the equipment room for availability prior to the check-out weekend.

The club has many regulators of various manufacturers for training and rental. There are many BC's in different styles and colors. The club has SCUBA cylinders (tanks), both aluminum 80's and aluminum 63's. There are also 3 aluminum 80's dedicated to nitrox for those certified to dive with EAN. Weight belts and weight are in plentiful supply.
The club has two compressors for filling club and member tanks. Both compressors are Bauer K-15's. One is mounted in the equipment room and one is portable. The portable makes it to most of the lake dives. Members tanks, if in hydro and VIP, are filled at no charge. The room compressor is available for fills any time the room is open and also, by appointment. Club compressors can fill up 3500psi and the air is tested regularly for quality. If you wish to see the certificates and the analysis, just let the equipment room personnel know, they'll be glad to show you.
Services provided to members include Visual Inspection using an eddy current system to detect neck cracks in aluminum cylinders and hydrostatic re-testing for SCUBA cylinders. The VIP's are performed in the room by certified club members for a small fee and the club arranges for hydros at a local re-test facility at a very competitive price.
The equipment room also has on hand membership forms and cards, DAN applications, past newsletters, and information about various dive sites around the state and out of state. For those that might be missing an O'ring or perhaps have a question about a certain piece of gear, the room usually has someone available that has experience with what you are needing or asking. If the traffic's bad and the room is open, stop by and pass the time. We can always teach you how to pump tanks.
