April 10 - Club Meeting

As divers we know how exciting it is when we glimpse a sea turtle on one of our dives. Since the time of the dinosaurs the ancestors of our current sea turtles have been swimming in the Earth’s oceans. Is it any wonder, then, that they are so at ease and graceful in their ocean world where we can only pay brief visits? The presentation will include an overview of the life cycles and conservation status of the seven living sea turtle species with emphasis on our Texas State Sea Turtle, the critically endangered Kemp’s Ridley turtle.

The presentation will be led by Bobette Bradfield who has achieved quite a collection of nature-related titles - Certified Texas Master Naturalist , Turtle Island Restoration Network volunteer, Galveston Island Nature Tourism Council member, Galveston Island State Park Science Educator, and best of all - Texins Dive Club member since 1985.

Make plans now to attend this exciting meeting - and, of course, bring all of your turtle-related questions as Bobette will be happy to provide the answers!
